European Fusion Teacher Day

A fully remote event for teachers across all of Europe. 

Open to all science and physics teachers in Europe, an afternoon is set up in which the newest developments in nuclear fusion as well as newly developed classroom materials on fusion are being presented. During the day participants will get a look behind the scenes of the most groundbreaking fusion experiments of today and learn about fusion first-hand from experts in the field. 

 

The European Fusion Teacher Day offers teachers:

  • New education materials for in the classroom
  • A behind-the-scenes look at international fusion experiments, such as GOLEM and ITER
  • A live connection with teachers throughout Europe

 

The entire event will be remote, starting at 14:00 (CEST) and ending at 16:30 (CEST), on October 2nd 2020. The day consists of two parts: a local session and a central livestream session. 

The local session will be hosted by local institutes in many different European countries and will be in the local language. During this local session lectures will be given by fusion experts of the institutes and new classroom materials will be presented and freely distributed. The livestream session will feature a Europe-wide connection between all locations, with among other items, a live connection with the oldest tokamak still in operation and with international fusion experiment ITER. The livestream session will be in English.

 

    At the end of the event participants will be able to tell their students all about nuclear fusion: from the cutting-edge research that is going on, to how to make a career out of fusion!
