Applying to this school has been one of the best choices of thelast months. The love for the fusion research of all the studentsliterally filled the air at every lesson. The interesting talks andevident expertise of the professors fostered my curiosity andhelped me get a better consciousness of the advances in themodelling activities for fusion. Furthermore, this week gave menew ideas about what I would like to pursue in my PhD, thatwill start in few months. I hope to be able to apply such tools inmy future as a researcher in the fusion community.

I attended the ITER International Summer School on Integrated Modelling of Magnetic Fusion Plasmas in Aix-en-Provence, from June 30th to July 4th. It was an amazing experience that enriched me both professionally and socially. In addition to attending lectures on integrated modelling, the summer school gave me the opportunity to connect with people from all around the world who share the same dream as I do: harnessing energy from fusion. 

On the far outskirts of a small eastern German town, where a seemingly endless band of GDR era 5 story housing blocks meets the seemingly endless expanse of pommeranian fields, stands a building with a peculiar wave-like roof shape. Hidden behind a decrepit stable, surrounded by grazing cows, the Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) runs a machine called Wendelstein 7-X, as of now the largest Stellarator in the world. 

I’m a Master's student nearing the end of my academic journey, and I decided to attend IIS2025 to learn more about integrated modeling for fusion plasmas. I found the topic extremely interesting, even though some of the lectures were a bit challenging to follow, as I’m still relatively new to this field.

From May 22nd to August 8th, I had the privilege of working as an intern at the Institute for Astroparticle Physics(IAP) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)[1]. My primary focus was on the conceptualization of a planto test an ionization chamber (IC) for the Test Blanket Module (TBM)|[2] in the ITER project.
